     Hester Laurice Watkins was born in October 1859 in Clarke County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Joseph Watkins and Sarah Jane Dutton. Hester Laurice Watkins married Francis A. Harless, son of Jacob L. Harless and Martha H. Chenoweth, 12 March 1882 in Clarke County, Iowa.

     Russell H. Harless was born on 15 November 1834 in Giles County, Virginia. He was the son of Clara Harless. Russell H. Harless married Minerva Ann Harless, daughter of Gasper Link Harless and Mary Ann Snidow, 28 September 1854 in Giles County, Virginia.
